Earthquake Shakes Sukabumi
An earthquake with a magnitude of 5 on the Richter Scale occurred on Tuesday 10th March, 2020. As a result, several houses in Sukabumi, West Java were damaged.
Residents affected by the earthquake in Kabandungan sub-district were displaced in 3 points, namely:
1. Cipicung Village: 180 people, 25 families
2. Kampakan Babakan: 27 people, 9 families
3. Jayanegara: 200 inhabitants
The Sukabumi District Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that at least three residents suffered injuries and that houses were damaged in Pamijahan Subdistrict, Bogor Regency, West Java, each with 1 housing unit in Gunung Bunder Village, 1 housing unit in Cibunian Village, 6 housing units in Purwabakti Village, 1 unit in Cibitung Kulon Village and 1 unit in Pasarean Village.
Earthquakes were reportedly felt in areas including Bogor City, Sukabumi City, Lebak Regency, Banten, mildly in Jakarta and Pamijahan District, Bogor Regency.
Our Response
The Human Initiative Emergency Response Team responded quickly to this incident by sending personnel to the field. The team coordinated with local government to conduct a rapid assessment and plan to establish a water kitchen post.
As of 11th March, our partners in Indonesia have established a water kitchen for refugees in Jayanegara, Kec. Kabandungan, Sukabumi, West Java.
