Mount Agung at Karangasem Bali was erupted and produced the black smoke on 21st November 2017 at 5:35PM local time. The status was alert level (Level 3) at that time and continues to erupt. Five days later the status is raised from Level 4 (alert) to Level 4 (Danger). This was announced on the 27th November at 06:00 AM local time.

An estimated dangerous zone is very dynamic and continuously evaluated. It will be changed at any time following the most recent observation data. The local people who live within radius 8 km and 10 km of the eruption point are urged to evacuate in fact, some have been self-evacuating since Saturday night the 25th November following the Mount Agung’s eruption.

The last time Mount Agung erupted in 1963, around 1,500 Indonesians were killed.

The total refugee was estimated until Thursday the 30th November (at 6 AM local time) are 48,671 people.

The locations of the largest number of Refugees are:

  • Tembok Village
  • Les Village
  • Sambirenteng Village
  • Subangan Village

Tejakula District will be the first refuge’s destination of the survivors if the eruption intensity is increased.

How can we help?

Our Overseas Partner; PKPU Human Initiative has sent the emergency respond’s team to assess the need and coordinate with local authority and community leaders. The local volunteers has been mobilised within the refuge’s locations and the mask aids has been distributed. The Emergency Response Team observes the condition of Mount Agung regularly.

HUMAN AID INITIATIVE has launched an appeal to provide the urgent needs for the affected people in this natural disaster. We work together very closely with our overseas partner in distributing our aids to the most people in need. We need your help to provide them with mask aids, emergency food pack supplies and logistics, sanitary facilities and mobile toilets.
